Hebrew School is a weekday program for students in grades 3-7 which meets on Tuesday afternoon from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Currently Hebrew School is held at Rockdale Temple 8501 Ridge Road.
The goal of our Hebrew program is for our students to become knowledgeable in the structure and meaning of the Shabbat and holiday liturgy. We are educating our children for life long learning and participation in congregational life, not for a single lifecycle event. We use a combination of classroom instruction and web-based access to supplement each student’s learning, as well as providing parents with transliterations of the prayers and blessings. Students will learn in a group setting with others who are progressing at a similar level. Approximately six months prior to a student’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah, a tutor will be assigned to assist with learning the Torah and Haftarah portion, with each student being tutored individually.
