“More than Israel has kept the Sabbath, the Sabbath has kept Israel.”– Ahad HaAm
Shabbat is the way that Jews regularly arrange their lives to stay in touch with what is perfect in the world. Shabbat at Rockdale Temple is a special time for all of our congregants.
Throughout the month, we offer several different types of services and times to enable each of us to observe and celebrate the day of rest.
Shabbat Evening Services – On most Fridays, the clergy and soloist of the congregation lead the services from one of the Reform Movement’s Siddurim (prayerbooks). Congregational participation is encouraged and about once a month the Rockdale choir also leads the music.
Tot Shabbat - Families with young children are encouraged to come and experience a Shabbat Service filled with laughter, stories and song, led by our rabbi. Please check the online calendar for the next Tot Shabbat.
Rock Shabbat - This musical service is geared for our multi-generational congregation. Led by our rabbi, Rabbinical Intern, and lay leaders, this is a participatory service for people of all ages and levels of Jewish learning. Come ready to sing, listen to stories, and learn something new!
Shabbat Morning - Torah Study and Service – The Rockdale community offers a Saturday morning Torah study and Shabbat services which are usually led by Rockdale’s rabbinic intern. The Torah study begins at 10:00 a.m. and the service begins at 11:00 a.m.
