Create Your Jewish Legacy (CYJL) is a critically important fundraising effort for our Cincinnati Jewish community. And, as with so many other community efforts, Cincinnati is leading the way nationally. We have one of the strongest CYJL programs in the country. We are glad to be a part of it. We recently confirmed our legacy gifts to Rockdale Temple and the Jewish Cemeteries of Greater Cincinnati. Why?
Rockdale is the center of our Jewish life. It’s where our girls are establishing their Jewish identities; where we celebrate great moments and are comforted in difficult times. We have built many great friendships here, and continue to build more. Rockdale is our home for social action and for protecting Jewish life in Cincinnati. It is a legacy that my parents, Ed and Andi, are passing down to us, and one that we want to pass down to our girls. Plus, we have fun here. Rockdale makes us happy.
We included the Cemeteries (you can give a gift to multiple local Jewish organizations) in honor of Ed and Andi’s involvement there. Ed helped lead Cincinnati’s effort to preserve and protect our local cemeteries. Of all the work they have done, this may be the most meaningful because it brought together congregations from across our community -- bridging the distance between all of the different Jewish philosophies.
By the way, making a gift through CYJL is easy. We updated the beneficiary form on a 401(k) plan to include Rockdale and the Cemeteries. It took about five minutes to do our part to help secure the future of our great congregation and strengthen our Jewish community.
