Sally Korkin with Gerry Korkin

Being a lifelong, third-generation member of Rockdale Temple, my Judaism is very important to me.  My maternal great-grandfather, Dr. William Rosenau, was ordained in the sixth graduating class at Hebrew Union College in 1889.  Although I never met him, his influence has always been very strong in my life.

I grew up at Rockdale, was consecrated and confirmed at the old Rockdale Temple on Rockdale Avenue—girls did not have Bat Mitzvahs back then—and Gerry and I were married by a Rockdale Temple rabbi in 1968.  Our daughters, Kerri and Suzanne, were consecrated, had their B’not Mitzvah, were confirmed on our bimah, and were both married at Rockdale in our chapel.

Gerry was President of Rockdale Temple from 1991-1993, and I am honored to have recently been elected to the Rockdale Board, following in the footsteps of my mother, Marjorie Kiefer Fox, who served on Rockdale’s Board in the 1960s.

Our legacy gift to Rockdale Temple is important and vital for the Cincinnati Jewish community because it will help sustain Rockdale Temple and Judaism for future generations. Although our daughters are not living in Cincinnati and therefore not raising our five grandchildren at Rockdale, Gerry and I want to ensure that Rockdale Temple remains a vibrant congregation for our fellow congregants’ children and grandchildren.  Without temples and synagogues, Jewish agencies would not be viable, because Judaism begins here.

Through our Create Your Jewish Legacy gift to Rockdale Temple, Gerry and I hope that we, along with so many others, will help make a difference in our Jewish community.  We invite you to join us.
