Renee and Matt Rosensweet
We became a part of the Bene Israel Society because Matt came from a congregation in Dayton that has always valued its Foundation. So, when the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati started the Create Your Jewish Legacy Program, it really interested Matt and reminded him of the strong community he came from. He also, at the time, was President of the Board of Camp Livingston.
The choice of organizations was easy. It was always going to be the two organizations that built up our children’s Jewish identity. Rockdale fosters and supports that identity during the year with Religious School, the Family Retreat, and Youth Group. Camp Livingston lets them live their Judaism out loud during the summer. Both are equally important to them and therefore both are equally important to our family.
Because of these two community organizations, we have a daughter who has developed a love for Israel, a son who comes out of his shell every time he comes home to camp in Indiana, and a son and daughter who see everyone as a friend and want to support every kid.
Having been involved in Jewish life, we know that it is not easy to keep an organization running and that it takes time and money to do it. And we hope that by making this commitment today we can ensure that both Rockdale Temple and Camp Livingston will be here not only for our children, but our children’s children.
