Weather:
If we need to postpone/cancel due to weather, we will let you know by email and social media post by 3:00PM on Friday.

Arrival:
You are welcome to arrive between 6:30 and 6:50PM to the Rockdale Temple/JCC parking lot. We will begin promptly at 7:00PM.

When you enter the lot, you’ll be directed by a Rockdale staff member and given a Shabbat bag (including challah and a prayer card). You’ll then be directed to a parking spot.

Once parked, please get comfortable and orient yourselves to enjoy the service. The “Bimah” (two stages with large candles between) will be situated in front of Ronald Reagan/Cross County by the Rockdale Temple – marked parking spots.

Health and Safety:
Please remember that everyone must stay in their cars throughout the evening. There are no restrooms/indoor facilities available.

If you choose to open your windows, you’ll be able to hear the service over our large speakers. If you have your windows open, please remember to wear a mask.

You are welcome to bring food to enjoy in your car, but please do not have anything delivered to you in our lot or share food with another car/family.

Shabbat Experience:
Our musical, family-friendly service will last no more than one hour. We encourage everyone to sing along!

The “Bimah” (two tall stages with large candles in between) will be situated near the Rockdale Temple parking spots, along the Ronald Reagan/Cross County side of the lot. We will do our best to give everyone a decent sight line. The diagram below will give you an idea of our set-up for Friday.

Our speakers will be turned up high! If you’d like to enjoy the comfort of your car’s heat, simply tune your radio to 93.1FM! If you would prefer to open your windows, arrive early and park up front!

Friends and family at home are invited to participate in services, too – we will be professionally live-streamed from the parking lot and broadcasting on our website and Facebook at 7:00PM.

Departure:
Cars will be parked in a sacredly-distanced manner, but arranged so that everyone can see well. Please plan to stay throughout the service.

After the service, our staff will safely direct cars out of the parking lot.

We are looking forward to an amazing Shabbat and Chanukah with our Rockdale Family!
Thank you for following these instructions as we strive to keep everyone safe and healthy, and to promote the Jewish value of pikuach nefesh, the preservation of life.
